Whether you’re working in ARAP or SSDS permitting, TN Environmental is here to help.

Hi! I’m Melody- a former TDEC environmental scientist.

I’m passionate about Tennessee’s natural resources, and I believe that it shouldn’t be difficult to manage and enjoy them!

My goal is to help decrease frustration with environmental permitting and to help increase valuation of the great environment we depend on and love here in Tennessee.

Services for Aquatic Resource Alteration Permit (ARAP):

Consultation

Consultation services generally focus on providing guidance or information. The goal of these services is to provide answers, clarity, or confidence you need in order to take your next steps.

Services Offered:

  • ARAP Consultation Call— Got questions? Let’s get you answers. Consultation calls are held via phone and billed in 15-minute intervals to save you time and money.

  • ARAP Email Consultation–Don’t want to talk on the phone? We can email! Email consultations are billed every three exchanges. (An exchange is one email and its response. This should allow us to cover about the same information as a 15-minute call.)

  • Consultation Follow-Up Email–Want to get the most out of your consultation call or email? Add this service, and I’ll prepare you a write-up of our discussion, summarize any recommendations or options for your next steps, and any additional research or resources we reference in our conversation.

  • Application Pre-Review— Would you like someone to look over your DIY application and try to catch any mistakes BEFORE you wait on TDEC review? In this service, I’ll pre-review your application and let you know if I see anything that needs more attention before you submit it. Includes up to 2 hours of application review and a phone call up to 2 hours to discuss any findings, recommendations, or questions.
  • ARAP On-Site Consultation–Do you have questions that need boots-on-the-ground at your project site? I can review your site solo, or we can meet and discuss your property, project, and potential permitting needs. I’ll provide a write up of notes from my visit and the next steps I recommend.

Consulting

Consulting services generally focus on executing a hands-on action. The goal of these services is to apply expertise and produce a deliverable you need to complete the application process, whether that’s the application itself or a technical assessment.

Services Offered:

  • Hydrologic Determination (HD)— A hydrologic determination is the official Tennessee method for determining if a channel is a wet weather conveyance or a stream. The HD serves as the jurisdictional determination for channel resources.

  • Aquatic Resource Inventory (ARI)— An aquatic resource inventory is a survey of the water resources on-site, including any channels, wetlands, ponds, or reservoirs. This survey evaluates the jurisdictional status of each feature using the TDEC standard methods, including any needed HDs.
